Technibus Raises Money For Project Ed Bear Through Coney Lunch

CANTON, Ohio- June 30, 2021

Technibus recently hosted a coney lunch during our employee’s lunch to raise money for the local non-profit, Project Ed Bear. We had an amazing turn out with near one hundred percent participation from all employees! Whether it be challenging each other to see who can eat the most coney’s, participating in our 50/50 raffle, or simply just donating money to the cause.

The record holder for eating the most coney’s was Dylan Kungle with a whopping number of eight (8) coneys! There were over two hundred coney’s prepared for the lunch sale and we raised over eight hundred dollars ($800) for Project Ed Bear! We previously donated Christmas presents in the winter for Project Ed Bear and we plan on doing more fundraising events in the future!

About Project Ed Bear

Project Ed Bear is a volunteer-based non-profit that provides comfort to children suffering from cancer throughout Northeastern Ohio. Project Ed Bear started in 1994 by Susan Summerville, after her son received a non-cancerous diagnosis from bone tumors that had been discovered.

Today, they are making a significant impact by joining in the care of hundreds of children suffering from this disease. To date Project Ed Bear has been able to provide hundreds of thousands of dollars to Akron Children’s Hospital as well as many comforting needs, such as: video game systems and games for all of the beds on the oncology ward as well as the clinic, the newest movies and laptop computers available on the ward, gifts for the treasure chest, toys for the ward and the bear cave as well as a camera, printer and scrapbook supplies.

Project Ed Bear has also paid for the design and decorating of the new clinic at Akron Children’s Hospital that includes an Ed Bear Cave filled with toys and a computer area for the older children.

Technibus, Inc. Receives Presidential Award for Export Success

Canton, Ohio — U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker today presented Technibus, Inc. with the President’s “E” Award for Exports at a ceremony in Washington, DC. The President’s “E”Award is the highest recognition any U.S. entity can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports.

“Technibus has demonstrated a sustained commitment to export expansion. The “E” Awards Committee was very impressed with Technibus’ dramatic expansion of the international representation to include 11 countries in three years. The company’s ability to adapt its product line for export markets was also particularly notable. Technibus’ achievements have undoubtedly contributed to the national export expansion efforts that support the U.S. economy and create American jobs”, said Secretary Pritzker in her congratulatory letter to the company announcing its selection as an award recipient.

Technibus, based in Canton, Ohio, is a leading manufacturer of highly engineered, custom designed nonsegregated, segregated, and isolated phase metal enclosed bus systems.

The Company’s products are mission critical components that conduct electricity between high current electrical equipment at power generation, and large energy consuming and distribution facilities.

“Exporting continues to be the foundation of our sales growth plan, and we are honored to receive the “E” Award,” said Robert Gladden, President & CEO. “When we first began to concentrate our efforts on direct exporting in 2012, export sales accounted for two percent of our total sales. During the past four years, export sales grew to nearly 15 percent of our total sales, enabling us to sustain jobs and even expand our work force.”

In 1961, President Kennedy signed an executive order reviving the World War II “E” symbol of excellence to honor and provide recognition to America’s exporters. Today, Secretary Pritzker honored 123 U.S. companies with the President’s “E” Award for their outstanding work to reduce barriers to foreign markets and to open the door to more trade around the world.

In 2015, U.S. exports totaled $2.23 trillion, accounting for nearly 13 percent of U.S. GDP. Nationally, exports contributed to the U.S. economy, supporting an estimated 11.5 million jobs.

U.S. companies are nominated for the “E” Awards through the Department of Commerce’s U.S. Commercial Service office network, located within the Department’s International Trade Administration, with offices in 108 U.S. cities and more than 70 countries. Record years of successive export growth and an applicant’s demonstration of an innovative international marketing plan that led to the increase in exports is a significant factor in selecting the winners.
